DIY PaisleyLady.Com's Hand Towels
Theresa Mechem loves Paisley and Waffle Towels!
“To put it simply, I love the quality of classic, white waffle weave towels and Paisley fabric. Some people like jewelry, some people like painting, but me - I like a quality hand towel.” That’s how Theresa Mechem describes a passion that she’s turned into a business.
“I began sewing as a young teenager when my mother enrolled my sister and I in a sewing class, and we’ve been sewing ever since.” She notes that she loves decorating her home with custom-made curtains, hand towels and other home accessories.
Paisley Lady, the name of her website and company, just came to her one summer morning in 2009, and she took it as a sign. Her first project involved adding a beautiful paisley fabric hem to three white waffle weave hand towels from Gilden Tree.
Later, inspiration struck Theresa when she walked into Surroundings, a cute little shop in Camden, Maine focused on uniquely designed hand towels. “I started to make more towels with my new logo embroidered on them, which I gave away as gifts.” Friends and family loved the new hand towels so much she decided to start PaisleyLady.Com, where she offers beautiful, unique products with a focus on Paisley.
Theresa Mechem, originally from Washington DC, has lived in the suburbs of Virginia for most of her life, working as a graphic designer for over 26 years. She has an A.A.S degree in Commercial Art, and a B.S. in Visual Communications. She's also won numerous American Graphic Design Awards for poster and brochure designs
