What is Camping4Girls and Why Does Gilden Tree Support it?

Camping4Girls was founded as the National T.T.T. Society in 1911 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa by a remarkable group of women to give a camping experience for girls who might not otherwise have a chance to go.

They knew that camp would give these girls greater confidence, help them make new friends and to see the world in a different way. And so for over 100 years, they've helped send girls to camp at no cost to their families, with clothing, supplies and support provided by a sponsoring chapter.

My mother, Marilyn Hunter started volunteering in the mid-1970s, and was passionately active for almost 40 years. I learned from her the possibility of making a difference, one child at a time.

Every time I see a little girl blossom after camp, it honors her commitment and her memory.

I later joined her chapter, Nebraska "A" Omaha and have found a remarkable group of caring women who actually help make a difference in girls' lives.

We try to keep in touch with our girls after camp whenever possible.  We've done everything from Tie-dye parties where they dye pillowcases for the next year's campers, to visiting a holiday tree farm to decorating gingerbread houses.

After one tie-dye party - the t-shirts and pillow cases drying on the clothesline looked amazing:

It's a good organization with a truly meaningful mission, and we're proud to help support it.

To help raise money for camp fees and other costs, Gilden Tree has created a special gift for Camping4Girls, our Help a Girl Hand Care Set. It's a beautiful gift and 10% of the sales go to Camping4Girls.
